The most important way to stay safe with gas appliances is to have them serviced once a year by a Gas Safe Engineer.  To back this up it is good to have at least one carbon monoxide alarm installed. In fact in Northern Ireland and in Scotland it is mandatory to fit them when replacing or installing new gas appliances.
